80/20

Today was okay. I did better at least on the paleo side of things. I’d say I was 80% paleo. Still not good enough though!

Had to write an essay so I went to starbucks and redeemed my free birthday drink to get that temptation out of the way. I had such a sugar high and then had a crash shortly thereafter – clear indication as to why sugar is bad! I also felt kind of depressed around dinner time when I was talking to my boyfriend on the phone. Maybe it was just a placebo effect because I know how bad sugar is, or maybe it really was the sugar… Who knows… All I know is that it is gone tomorrow! No more sugar (tonight in my coffee). Lol

My mom also gave me a container of greek yogurt on the weekend so I had to finish that off too today.

Plus, I didn’t even go to the gym because I was feeling too tired. Darn sugar, always bringing me down!

Tomorrow is a new day. I have a roast in the oven, my lunch is packed, and I have a swimming date with my friend. Need to start the triathlon training!

Major Setback

So I totally forgot about this blog and have totally failed on my paleo goals…

The end of 2013 was tough – bouts of paleo combined with lots of sugar and wheat… Stress got the better of me when my boyfriend and I broke up in September and I had tons of exams in dentistry.

I am vowing to myself to make 2014 different. I am almost at my highest weight again as I have eaten terribly over the holidays. I am depressed over how fat I am compared to my size 0/2 sisters. I’ve gained extra fat in my arms and legs and don’t feel as comfortable in my clothes as I used to. I really need to make a change and stick to it.

I am going to focus on meal planning and prep my meals ahead for the week. I am going to adopt the perfect health diet as I feel I need more carbs right now to combat my sugar cravings. I want to completely cut out sugar, wheat, legumes, and unhealthy oils.

I’m sick of being the fat girl!

Day 2

Today is my second day of no gluten/wheat. Yesterday went okay. I went to the Jays game in the afternoon and fought off my urge to eat a hamburger or street meat for lunch. Settled on some peanuts instead: so not paleo and not very healthy either. Oh well!

I prepped my breakfast and lunch yesterday so I was good to go.
2 boiled eggs, 1/2 avocado, and cauliflower for breaky
Ground beef, baby spinach and tomato for lunch, with an apple
I ended up having whey protein after a lifting workout today (also not paleo), but had a good dinner of ground beef over an egg white pancake with avocado, lettuce and tomato. It was my attempt to make a taco minus the flour tortilla but it failed when my egg pancake stuck together when I folded it over.

I also always have sweet cravings at night so I ate an iogo yogurt… They are so full of sugar and artificial flavours but I got a ton of free ones on the weekend so I feel obligated to eat them. As long as there is no wheat!

Easy Ground Beef Recipes

I definitely have no beef with ground beef. It’s so easy to cook and versatile in a lot of different recipes.

I love nerd fitness. I subscribe to their emails and usually they write about some pretty insightful stuff. I will have to try out some of these recipes this week because I have a good 2lbs of ground beef in my fridge waiting to be cooked and eaten. Mmm

First goal

Cut out all wheat!

Small changes will add up. Wheat always makes me overeat. I never feel full after a slice of bread and I usually have terrible digestion afterward (hello smelly farts!). I need to cut back on all the wheat products I consume, especially since they are usually loaded with sugar: muffins, cakes, bagels, cookies, etc.

I can do it! Gluten-free 🙂

Hello WordPress World!

Here is my first paleo post.

I decided to start this blog after realizing I need to get my eating habits back on track. Today, I ate a piece of toast and eggs for breakfast (not completely horrible), followed by 3 pieces of pizza for lunch with 2 hazelnut cookies. Then an iced cappucino for a mid afternoon snack… and then, a grilled cheese, potato salad, a haagandaaz icecream bar, lots of chips, and more… I’ve developed a bit of a binge eating problem and I need to stop eating so much!

I am now sitting down with my Practical Paleo book (my birthday present from 8 months ago) so I can pick out some good paleo recipes for the upcoming week.

I need to do this! For my health, brain, skin, teeth, confidence…the list goes on
